Grand Hotel Français Paris
Built in 1889, The Grand Hotel Francais, has recaptured the charm and elegance of the French Tradition. This historical building stands attractively and stylishly in one of Paris’ major crossroads called Place De La Nation. Nation is 5 minutes away from Bastille, the Marais and the Saint-Paul districts. Surrounded by boutiques and shaded café terraces, there is a certain “Art De Vivre” present in this buzzing district.
Renovated in 2003, the ceilings are beautifully molded and the balconies at the windows add a bit of elegance to each room. The front desk, located in the foyer of the hotel, is open 24 hours. A helpful and friendly staff at the reception desk is ready to answer any questions and accommodate your needs. The lobby and bar is the ideal place for one to relax with a glass of wine or a cup of espresso. Read more »
Hotel Edouard VI Paris
This attractive 6-floor hotel is located in the heart of Montparnasse, the landscape of which is dominated by the soaring tower that is the second tallest building in Europe. This lively sector blends the old and the new and the excitement of the area, especially at night, is palpable. If you want to be in the middle of it—all for a reasonable price—book your stay at the Hotel Edouard VI.
This hotel has 33 rooms and is situated on a busy corner above the Metro stop (Bienvenue Montparnasse). It’s worth asking for a room on an upper floor for the quietest stay. That said, what’s a little rumble, especially if you live in a city? Those noises just seem to disappear and the Hotel Edouard VI has done a good job in making every effort to block extraneous noise.
The location could not be better for exploring this diverse quarter which is home to the fascinating Cimetiere du Montparnasse (the final resting place of such luminaries as Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir, Brancusi, and Man Ray), as well as the Pantheon, a stunning neo-classical church which houses the remains of French national heroes like Voltaire, Victor Hugo, Emile Zola, Alexander Dumas, and Marie Curie. But this area is very much about the living and it attracts thousands of visitors to its venerable cafes (La Coupole being the most famous) and museums (Musee de Montparnasse, Musee Antoine Bourdelle, and Musee de la Poste). Arcantis La Bruyere Hotel Paris
Vacations are a wonderful opportunity for some serious shopping. Holidays give one a great excuse to buy things that wouldn’t be bought at home, because it instantly becomes a ‘souvenir’ if bought in another country. There’s nothing like being able to answer the question “Where did you get that lovely scarf?” with “Oh, this? Just something I picked up on my last trip to Paris.” This kind of exchange can be helped along by staying at the Arcantis La Bruyere Hotel, which is in the Saint Lazare area, where the big department stores Galleries Lafayette and Printemps are located. The hotel is also within walking distance from the Opera and the Metro.

K+K Hotel Cayre Paris makes its home in a beautiful seven-floor building with a classic Haussmann style exterior. Situated in the center of the sophisticated Saint Germain des Pres section of Paris, this left bank neighborhood of bookshops, bistros, cafes and galleries was once the intellectual epicenter of Paris. It is not difficult to step into one of these establishments and imagine yourself face to face with the likes of Ernest Hemmingway, T.S.Eliot or F.Scott Fitzgerald. In addition to its romantic roots, K+K Hotel Cayre is within walking distance of the Louvre, Musee d’Orsay and Le Bon Marche’s Gran Epicerie where you can feast on an assortment of cheeses, pates and other French delicacies. De Nemours Hotel Paris
Some may find it an odd way to spend time on vacation, but I love exploring old cemeteries and this small, 27-room hotel is well-situated for a visit to Pere-Lachaise. Covering 116 acres of prime Parisian real estate, the park-like setting (with over 6000 trees) is the final resting place of some of the world’s most famous personalities including Caillebotte, Pissarro, Seurat, Modigliani, Chopin, Bizet, Jim Morrison, Gertrude Stein, Alice B. Toklas, Balzac, Sarah Bernhardt, Edith Piaf, and Oscar Wilde, to name just a few. This atmospheric place sits on a hillside and it’s just too bad its “residents” can’t enjoy the view.
If cemeteries aren’t your thing, de Nemours Hotel is also very close (about a half mile) to the Place des Vosges, the Musee de Picasso and other attractions in the Marais. This quarter is also the home of the Jewish sector (the center of which is the rue des Rosiers), as well as many interesting shops and cafes. Read more »

If the historic and cultural charm of the 5th arrondissement on the Seine’s Left Bank appeals to you, the Libertel Austerlitz Jardin des Plantes may be just the thing! Be sure to book one of the hotel’s recently redecorated chambers with crisp white duvets and flat screen televisions. Your location is ideal for exploring the fascinating Rue Mouffetard (known locally as La Mouffe!). This ancient way never fails to charm with its bakeries, bookstores, bars, and bistros. Enjoy the atmosphere as you travel through an open air market replete with cheeses, artisan breads, fresh fruits, and other tasty offerings. This is an old haunt of Ernest Hemingway – wait- who did just disappear behind the butcher’s stand?
Another lovely diversion offered by the location of your lodging is the Jardin des Plantes. Best Western Aida Marais Hotel Paris
The Marais (named for the marshlands that once occupied this area) is one of the most interesting and historic quarters in Paris. The Best Western Aida Hotel is a reasonably-priced smaller hotel (51 rooms) that is well-located for exploring the Marais. The crown jewel of this ethnically diverse area is the beautiful Place des Vosges, an architectural gem which has housed such luminaries as Victor Hugo (who lived there while writing his masterpiece, “Les Miserables”), Cardinal Richelieu, and the literary hostess, Madame de Sevigne. This famous square is surrounded by 36 houses and a covered arcade and it is believed to be one of the most beautiful squares–not only in Paris–but in the world.
The famous rue des Rosiers in the Marais is the heart of the Jewish quarter which dates back to the 13th century when the first Jewish settlers established businesses and made their homes here. The Marais is home to many interesting shops and restaurants, as well as some of the finest museums the city has to offer including the Musee Picasso, Musee Carnavalet (devoted to the history of Paris), and the Maison Victor Hugo in the Place des Vosges.
All of these attractions are within walking distance of the Aida Marais Hotel. Visitors will find the rooms comfortable and clean. All brightly decorated, some are larger than others and all are non-smoking (a rarity in a city filled with smokers). Free WiFi is available in the rooms, along with coffee makers, flat screen TVs, and hair dryers, and some even have balconies where you can take in the sounds of the city and view the rooftops of Paris. Austin’s Arts et Metiers Hotel Paris
Tucked away on a quaint side street in the Marais, Austin’s Arts et Métiers Hotel is located in one of Paris’ most charming neighborhoods. The hotel has been fully renovated but its real value lies in its ideal location.
Austin’s Arts et Métiers Hotel serves as a perfect home base for sightseers looking to explore Paris. The Musee des Arts et Métiers is a stone’s throw away, and Musee Pompidou, Notre Dame and the Hotel de Ville are all within walking distance. And with the Arts et Métiers metro stop right in front of the hotel, one can access all of the major metro hubs in a few stops or less, making daytrips to places like Disneyland Paris a snap.
The rooms are clean and reasonably sized. Painted gold and with ample sunlight they do make the room appear much larger than it is which is a nice touch when returning from a busy day in the sometimes overwhelming city of lights. With particularly modern bathroom facilities (choose from bathtub or shower), all rooms are equipped with direct telephone, hairdryer and cable television. For optimal views, try to request a room facing the street rather than the courtyard. Read more »
